Additional info:
In March 2021, the federally funded, interdisciplinary research project HIVacToGC was launched to explore new approaches for the prevention and therapy of HIV infections; under the direction of Prof. Dr. Ralf Wagner from the University of Regensburg, the scientists involved are developing possibilities for the targeted transport of HIV antigens into lymph nodes. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is supporting the project within the framework of its funding programme “Targeted Drug Transport” with a total of 2.4 million euros over a period of three years. 1.2 million of this amount alone will go to the University of Regensburg. In addition to the Professor Wagner’s team, other partners involved in the research project are the Institute of Pharmacy at the University of Regensburg (Prof. Dr. Breunig, Prof. Dr. Göpferich), the Institute of Biomolecular Nanotechnology at the TU Munich (Prof. Dr. Dietz), the Helmholtz Munich (Prof. Dr. Ertürk), as well as the companies 2bind GmbH and tilibit GmbH.
